Industries Being Served

Companies that use rapid prototyping cut across most manufacturing industries. For the first time ever, the consumer products industry leads all others in the use of RP with 25.6%. Motor vehicles is a close second with 25.2%. Combined, they represent more than half of the total. The medical industry continues to grow as an important market for RP products and services and represents 10.7%. Business machines also represents 10.7%, followed by academic institutions (8.1%), aerospace (7.7%), and government/military (4.5%). A category named “other," representing 7.5%, includes industries such as professional sporting goods, non-consumer and non-military marine products, and other industries that do not fit into the named categories.
