Wohlers Associates, Inc. is a
21-year old independent consulting firm in Fort Collins, Colorado, located
one hour from Denver International Airport. The

partnerships, product positioning, competitive issues, and whether to
enter a particular market segment. The
work has involved more than 150 client organizations in 20 countries around the
world.

Specifically, what does Terry do?
About two-thirds of his efforts concentrate on consulting projects.
They involve on-site meetings with client companies, researching new
processes and technologies, and presenting written and oral reports. Also, he helps define,
coordinate, and review the results of experiments that test methods of
rapid product development.
The remaining
one-third of his time is split between speaking at industry events,
creating new editions of his textbooks and industry reports, writing
articles for trade journals, and contributing to industry
committees, boards, and associations. |
Even though it requires a
significant portion of his time, he also attends many conferences
and expositions and frequently visits
organizations around the world. He feels that these activities are
important to the future of his business and the business of his
clients.
Who are Terry's clients?
Most of his clients are manufacturing organizations from a wide range of
industries. Terry has assisted
organizations ranging in size from three people to more than 150,000 employees.

worked on over the past several years. In recent years, more than half of
his clients have been located outside the USA.
While
the makeup of these organizations differ dramatically, their needs are
often similar. Most of them need help sorting through the maze of choices
and opportunities associated with the methods used for prototyping, tooling, and manufacturing. They want to be certain that
they are headed in the right direction, especially when making strategic
decisions that can have a long term impact on their organization.
Terry
places the highest degree of importance on honesty, integrity, and
satisfaction, and he seeks to exceed expectations. All of
his clients are references.
How big is Wohlers Associates?
Small. From day one, Terry has wanted to minimize the management of
people and paper, and maximize a focus on technical and business issues. This means
he has added few employees to the company. Wohlers Associates consists of
one full-time employee (Terry), support staff of three part-time
employees, and contractors. This lean overhead
translates to efficiencies that are shared
with his clients.
Who are the "Associates?"
The associates are the organizations and individuals that work
closely with Terry. In some cases, they are the clients themselves. Terry
views it as a partnership with both parties sharing a common goal and
vision. From time to time, he involves others on a project, such as a
professor or an individual from a corporation. This approach provides the
needed resources when projects extend beyond the
in-house capabilities of the company. Terry's vast network of friends and associates
provides opinions, resources, and contacts that
his clients find valuable.
What is the mission of Wohlers
Associates?
Wohlers Associates aims to help
organizations take advantage of technologies and strategies that
enhance the product development process.
